Kate Middleton: Five Fun Facts

NAME Kate Middleton
DATE OF BIRTH January 09, 1982
BIRTH PLACE Berkshire, England

Royal insiders have called Kate Middleton, with her grace and sporty elegance, "a natural" as Prince William's wife.

The captivating brunette may not come from royalty, but she does have good breeding – her father is a self-made millionaire and she attended the prestigious and pricey private boarding school Marlborough College. After excelling at field hockey and cross-country running, Kate Middleton studied art history at University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where she took William off the market in 2002.

After an eight-year fairy tale romance, William proposed to Middleton with his late mother's engagement ring. The couple wed in London on April 29, 2011, ennobling Middleton as the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate Middleton: Five Fun Facts
  1. Kate Middleton, who worked as an accessories buyer for British fashion chain Jigsaw, once had her sights on launching her own kids' clothing line.
  2. After months of grueling training, Kate Middleton was forced to drop out of a charity rowing race across the English Channel. "It's a safety thing," Emma Sayle, captain of Middleton's ex-team, told PEOPLE. "The boats aren't designed for the sea. It's dangerous enough as it is without the world's paparazzi [chasing] us."
  3. In March 2002, Prince William paid $200 to sit front row and watch a bikini-clad Kate Middleton walk down the runway of a student-run charity fashion show at University of St. Andrews.
  4. In 2006, Woolworths created commemorative plates and mugs with Kate Middleton and Prince William's likenesses, amid engagement rumors that turned out to be false at the time.
  5. As Kate Middleton prepared to celebrate her 25th birthday in 2007, a group of Kate aficionados launched the Unofficial Kate Middleton Fan Club. Their first announced meeting was held outside one of Middleton's favorite nightclubs, Boujis. (original article from: people.com)

Who Would Boo Beyonce and Jay-Z?

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have made so few musical missteps in their respective superstar careers, chances are they haven't heard the stinging sound of boos in a long, long time. But last night at the Costume Institute's "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the couple got a verbal smackdown from piqued paparazzi who were angry the pair didn't pause longer for photographs.

New York magazine's fashion blog the Cut was the first to report Beyoncé Boogate, tweeting from the red carpet, "OMG Beyonce and Jay-Z are being BOOED at the #MetGala for not posing for pictures! Yes, boo!" The site's correspondent quickly explained, "Beyonce's Pucci dress was so tight she could barely walk up the stairs as she failed to stop for the photographers."

Camera-phone footage confirms B struggled to take even a few steps in her slinky black-and-gold gown -- she even required assistance from Jay-Z and another fella for the walk up the stairs -- which is a little ironic since she just released a fitness song called "Move Your Body."

Keep in mind, these were pushy photogs rather than persnickety music critics showering the duo in boos -- nobody yelled, "Where's Watch the Throne?" or "Why'd you sample Major Lazer?" at the pair -- but the effect was pretty harsh. Hopefully Beyoncé and Jay returned to their TriBeCa pad right next to De Niro and blasted Of Montreal's "Suffer for Fashion."

The dress itself wasn't exempt from some virtual booing, either: The Prophet blog described the garish, fishtail frock as a "vinyl dress that looked like a Tina Knowles Dereon special straight off the rack at Sears."(S)

Hot Wafah Dufour, Bin Laden niece in glamour shots

Hot Sexy Nude Wafah Dufour

The niece of Osama Bin Laden has posed for provocative photographs for an American magazine.
Wafah Dufour, an aspiring musician and model, is the daughter of the al-Qaeda leader's half-brother Yeslam.

Wafah Dufour appears stripped to ostrich feather lingerie, and in a bubble bath, in photos for American GQ magazine.

US-born, she says she is an American, and distances herself from her uncle. "Everyone relates me to that man, and I have nothing to do with him," she says.

Wafah Dufour, 26, took her mother's maiden name after the events of 11 September 2001.

She lived in Saudi Arabia, where Bin Laden is from, until she was 10, before moving on to Geneva and back to the US.

'Like any New Yorker'

She says she never sees any of the extended Bin Laden clan, including her father.

"There are 400 other people related to him, but they are all in Saudi Arabia, so nobody's going to get tarred with it. I'm the only one here," she said.

Her father and Osama Bin Laden are among more than 50 children fathered by Mohammed Bin Laden, a Yemeni immigrant to Saudi Arabia, and construction magnate.

Wafah Dufour was in Geneva when the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US, masterminded by her uncle, were launched.

She said: "I was freaking out, crying hysterically, watching this in horror. I was like 'Somebody's bombing my city, and I wanna go home!'"

"I was born in the States, and I want people to know I'm American, and I want people to understand that I'm like anyone in New York. For me, it's home," Wafah Dufour said. (S)

Kathryn Bigelow may have to change focus

Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow has been working hard on an Osama Bin Laden assassination movie -- but she wasn't quick enough.

The Al Quaeda leader was killed by U.S. troops on Sunday, President Barack Obama confirmed.

"Kill Bin Laden" was set to be an action thriller flick, based on a failed Black Ops mission by the military to capture Bin Laden, who had been in hiding since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America.

Kathryn Bigelow, who won an Oscar for 2009's "The Hurt Locker," and her collaborator Mark Boal had already met with a number of actors to star in the film, including "Inglorious Basterds" star Michael Fassbender; however, he had recently backed out, and instead, Aussie actor Joel Edgerton was in the running to be the film's star.

But now that Bin Laden has, in fact, been killed, The Hollywood Reporter projects that Kathryn Bigelow could take the film in one of two ways: it could stay the same given the excitement of Sunday's monumental event or it could change completely with a new storyline and focus. (S)

Nicole Scherzinger to host 'The X Factor'

Simon Cowell has not yet revealed the identities of the all the judges on "The X Factor," but a source tells PEOPLE that Nicole Scherzinger will be the show's host.

Formerly of girl group the Pussycat Dolls, the singer-actress, 32, appeared on the U.K. version of "The X Factor" as a guest judge in July. At the time, fellow judge Louis Walsh praised Nicole Scherzinger's stint on the show saying, "This girl has the X Factor in every way. She was incredibly impressive and ticked every box."

Added the show's U.K. host, Dermot O'Leary, "She was hilarious."

When discussing Scherzinger during a chat with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS morning show in March, Cowell said, "I absolutely adore her. She's gorgeous and ruthlessly ambitious."

It's still undecided whether Nicole Scherzinger -- who will release her solo album "Killer Love" later this year -- will have a co-host, but Cowell has said he thinks the show could benefit from two hosts.

In March, Cowell named Antonio "L.A." Reid as a judge on "X Factor." Cowell himself will also be a judge. And when it comes to filling the other two judges' seats, Cowell told PEOPLE in March that Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole are in the running.

In the meantime, thousands of hopefuls continue to come out for "X Factor" auditions across the country. Next, the show heads to Dallas in search of talented singers. (S)

Royal Wedding: Victoria Beckham With Minimalistic Navy

For the catwalk that was yesterday’s royal wedding, Victoria Beckham wore a boat-necked navy dress of her own ‘design’ (meaning she wrapped some fabric around her tiny frame a few weeks ago and said: ‘Um, yeah!’) with a pretty, scooped asymmetric hem and short sleeves, and a jaunty pillbox titfer by Philip Treacy. The effect was more suitable for a funeral than a wedding.

Her very high shoes, custom-made by Christian Louboutin and costing well over £1,000, were surely as hazardous to her unborn fourth child as smoking 20 Capstan Full Strength.

Her large envelope clutch bag, too, was by VB, made from lizard skin and possibly costing more than the royal reception and honeymoon together.

Her bare twiglet legs were as well-oiled as the royal wedding machine itself, while her make-up was wildly inappropriate for such a formal day occasion: far too much blusher, which made her face even more gaunt than normal, and smudged, inky eyes.

David Beckham was dressed head to toe in Ralph Lauren, a designer who does English style through the prism of waspish Americanism, every bit as fake as Victoria Beckham’s hair and pedigree as a fashion designer. Why did David not choose a struggling British tailor from Savile Row? His quiff (I noticed he did not once wear his top hat, fearing helmet-hair no doubt) was reminiscent of Ricky Gervais

Perhaps Victoria Beckham’s sombre outfit was appropriate to her mood, given an apparent tiff between the pair on their way into the Abbey. (R)

Pippa Middleton: The Younger Sister of the New Duchess of Cambridge

Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of the new Duchess of Cambridge, took her place on the world stage Friday by supporting her sister during her wedding to Prince William. Pippa served as maid of honor for the ceremony, and drew widespread raves for her choice of bridesmaid's dress.

Designed by the same designer that designed Kate's wedding dress, the Alexander McQueen sheath has attracted a lot of Internet buzz in the hours after the official ceremony. A form-fitting A-line, the ivory gown featured a few of the same small details as the bride's wedding dress, including the row of small buttons down the back.

Like her sister, Pippa Middleton wore her hair in a half-up, half-down flowing style as well. As maid of honor, she was responsible for watching over and arranging the train on her sister's wedding dress, among other duties.

Although her sister may now be in line to one day be England's queen, Pippa is not unaccomplished herself. A graduate of Edinburgh University, Pippa, or more formally, Phillipa, is a writer for the online magazine connected with her family's business, Party Pieces, and it is being widely speculated that she is in line to take a much more prominent role in the company.

She also is involved in charity work, specifically with the fundraising group Too Many Women, which gathers funds for breast cancer research. She's been known to attend other charity events and fundraisers as well.

Now that the royal wedding is over, some are postulating that Pippa Middleton might continue to be seen at her older sister's side as her lady-in-waiting. The role often goes to someone in the royal's immediate circle, and indeed, both Princess Diana and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, chose their own sisters for the job.

Either way, whether she chooses to stay with the family business or accompany her sister to the palace, with today's wedding ceremony and the ensuing hubbub surrounding her well-received appearance and poise, Pippa Middleton may well be in for a whole lot more scrutiny. Many media outlets are already referring to her as one of England's most-eligible bachelorettes. (S)

Christina Aguilera Praises 'Lovely' Boyfriend

Christina Aguilera, The 30-year-old singer has been romancing set designer Matthew Rutler since they met while working on her movie 'Burlesque', and Christina Aguilera admits she is delighted to have found love again after splitting from husband Jordan Bratman last October.

The blonde beauty - who has a three-year-old son Max with Jordan - famously stumbled over the lyrics to American National Anthem when performing at the Super Bowl NFL game earlier this year, but she admitted she has learned to laugh about creating such an embarrassing memorable moment for herself.

Christina Aguilera told TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: "I think had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old. I took in the moment a little bit too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl, singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now. And then it was like, 'Oh.'

"That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question - 'in 2011 what female singer, you know, flubbed the lyrics?' It's just insane. But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you just prove to yourself and to everyone you're much stronger." (R)

Kelly McGillis is Back On The Two Movies

Kelly McGillis was one of the hottest stars of the 1980s. Between her work in "Top Gun," "Witness" and "The Accused," she looked poised to rush the '90s as an A-list movie star. But her struggles with her sexual identity had her deciding to leave the spotlight.

The tells EW about her decision to finally come out of the closet.

"Fundamentally, I was just tired of lying about who I am. I've reached a point where my kids are grown, they're out of the house, they no longer have to be concerned that their friends, their friends' families, will put them in compromising emotional situations because of my sexual preference," Kelly McGillis said. "That was a big concern of mine because, unfortunately, a lot of people are not very tolerant. I got to a certain age and I didn't give a s*** anymore. Ultimately, all I have to offer anybody is my truth. I don't have any profound wisdom, no profound insight, I only have my truth and my experience to offer others. And I was living a frigging lie."

And now Kelly McGillis is back on the big screen with two movies - "Stake Land," a scary movie that sees religious fanatics using vampires to punish non-believers, and "The Innkeepers," where Kelly is an aging actress at a reportedly haunted inn. (Reference)

Lindsay Lohan's court attire

In Lindsay Lohan's previous court appearances, her wardrobe choices have been called everything from inappropriate to tasteful. On Friday she arrived at a preliminary hearing dressed conservatively.

Lindsay Lohan's wearing blue pants and shoes from Lanvin, and a Wolford bodysuit. She's carrying a purse by Fendi.

For previous court appearances, she's worn mini-dresses (one white, one tan) and pants with a very low-cut top.

Lindsay Lohan is charged with felony grand theft for allegedly taking a necklace from a jewelry store in January without permission. (Reference)

Carrie Underwood on "Soul Surfer"

Carrie Underwood has made waves for her first movie role in the family-friendly "Soul Surfer," which is based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who didn't let losing an arm in a shark attack stop her from doing what she loves. In the movie Underwood plays a youth counselor that helps Bethany get her life back on track. The very humble Carrie Underwood admits that she knows her debut movie role won't win her an Oscar, which wasn't the case for another "American Idol" alum.

Speaking of Broadway shows, after performing in front of millions for "American Idol," it's not surprising that many former contestants are so comfortable onstage in front of a relatively small Broadway crowd: Fantasia scored a part in "The Color Purple;" Diana DeGarmo landed the role of Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray;" Frenchie Davis starred in "Rent;" and Josh Strickland got in touch with his wild side as the title character in "Tarzan." He now appears on the reality series "Holly's World."

Carrie Underwood hasn't ventured to the Broadway stage yet, but wherever she decides to try to take her talents to next, she can take comfort in knowing that it can't be as big of a disaster as "From Justin to Kelly." (Reference)

Death Threats against Rebecca Black probed

Police said on Tuesday they were investigating two death threats against 13-year-old Internet sensation Rebecca Black over her low-budget music video "Friday."

The threats were made sometime in March, after "Friday" became a YouTube hit and went viral as a web phenomenon, Anaheim Police spokesman Rick Martinez said.

"In essence the threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they were going to kill her," Martinez said.

"We can't validate how serious they are, but we do take it seriously," he said.

Martinez said officers were "keeping an extra eye out" for Rebecca Black as they investigated the messages, which were made through her Los Angeles-based production and management companies.

One of the death threats was made by phone and the other by email, he said.

Martinez said that investigators had not yet identified the person or persons behind the threats, but that they could face criminal charges.

"We're going to investigate and determine, number one, the source of the comments and then based on the investigation determine what intent was and where we go from here," he said. "If we believe they were actually intended as threats we will work toward prosecution"

Rebecca Black was an unknown Southern California middle-school student before "Friday" was released in February by a boutique record label.

The video, in which Rebecca Black can be seen singing gleefully about her weekend plans and riding in a car with friends, generated more than 110 million views on YouTube even as it was mocked by Internet critics.

Since then Rebecca Black has made appearances on national television and racked up chart entries in the United States, Britain, Australia and Canada.

Visible Measures, a company that tracks the performance of Web videos, has said that including copies of the video, spoofs and other versions available on hundreds of video sites, "Friday" has generated more than 200 million views -- surpassing Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and Justin Bieber's "Pray." Jacob Lusk takes the Luther Vandross comparisons head-on

Jacob Lusk has gotten comparisons to Luther Vandross all season long, so finally he's tackling the R&B legend head-on. "It's scary," he admits, then notes that it's the late singer's birthday.

Jimmy Iovine thinks Dance With My Father is a great choice for Jacob, especially since it means something to him (Jacob's father passed away when he was young). "Everybody knows that Jacob can sing," Jimmy says. "Now they're going to find out if he can feel."

Jacob has trouble holding on to the song from the very first notes. It's possible he's having trouble hearing something, but from the way he looks upward, away from the stare of the camera, he might be struggling with the emotions of the song -- to the point that he pulls the microphone away for just a second and misses a note.

Soon, though, he reins in his emotions, channeling them all through his voice. Even with the missed note, it's the best vocal performance of the night. Extremely touching.

"You remind me all the time of the reason I love music," Steven says. "Your daddy was up there listening to you."

"It's hard to perform when a song means that much to you," Jennifer says. "You want to bare your soul, but at the same time you have to have enough control to find the notes."

"Vocally, it was good, but it didn't make me jump up and down," Randy says. "I need the return of the old Jacob. I need to see you go through the roof. ... If you're here next week, go for it. ... I need the church kid back."

Ryan asks Jacob about the missed note, and Jacob says it wasn't the emotion, there was a problem with the mix in his in-ear monitor. [Source]

Big Boobs Aren't a Treat For Pregnant Kate Hudson!

KATE Hudson “hates” how big her breasts have become since being pregnant.

The 31-year-old actress — who is expecting her first child with British musician Matt Bellamy /Matthew Bellamy – does not like how much her body is changing because it means she cannot wear the clothes she wants to, although she does admit they are fun for “certain things”.

“I hate it. I’m usually an A cup and I’m getting close to a D cup. Big breasts are fun for certain things and really not fun for other things,” KATE Hudson said.

“Plus, I love fashion, and having big breasts is not ideal for certain looks. They’re way more fun when you’re not in your clothes. Then, they’re a blast!”

KATE Hudson — who also has seven-year-old son from ex-husband Chris Robinson — also reveals she is unlikely to be getting married to Muse star Matt any time soon.

“I wouldn’t count it out but Matthew and I kind of skipped that part and went right to the good stuff,” she said. [Source]

Kara DioGuardi describes molestation, date rape in her memoir

Kara DioGuardi is getting very personal in her new memoir "A Helluva High Note," revealing stories of molestation, date rape and sexual harassment from her past.

First, there was a family friend's teenage son, who repeatedly molested her when she was just 11. "On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina," she describes in the book. "I remember freezing and not knowing what to do."

Years later, with her songwriting career on the rise, the former "American Idol" judge says she was date-raped. Kara DioGuardi describes how a friendly dinner with a "fairly known producer" turned ugly. "[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand."

Sexual harassment came next. In her memoir she describes how a "hugely successful artist" took her on a songwriting trip. Rather than working on his music, she says, he spent the trip "watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers ... as they performed sex acts in the living room."

Kara DioGuardi tried to keep a professional relationship with the artist, but finally quit after an incident where he tried to force her to touch his privates.

Today, DioGuardi is busy with "Platinum Hit," her new Bravo show that premieres May 30, and hopes to start a family with husband Mike McCuddy. That's why she gave up on "Idol" and asked to be let out of her contract, she said.

"I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of 18-hour work days and live TV," she writes. "I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9."

"Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay. But my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name." Kara DioGuardi said [Source]

Nude Vida Guerra Ad Pulls the Caliente Card to Raise Money for PETA

Cuban-born model Vida Guerra has filmed a sexy new ad for a PETA fund-raising campaign. “Donate Today to See Vida's Full New Naked Ad!” says the animal-rights organization’s website; minimum donation was set at $5. (A PETA spokesperson says the ad will soon be free for all to see.)

To urge Latinos not to eat meat (and raise a little cash), the former FHM “Model of the Year” was photographed showing off her bounteous talents—she won the magazine’s “Best Butt Award” twice, after all—as she knelt coyly on a pile of chile peppers, looking over her shoulder and nibbling one of the bright red veggies. “Spice Up Your Life: Go Vegetarian,” the English-language version of the ad reads. (There's a Spanish-language version, too.)

In Vida Guerra ad’s accompanying behind-the-scenes video (because you knew there had to be one of those), Guerra extols the virtues of going meatless.

“I believe that being a vegetarian can definitely benefit, especially the Latin community because we’re used to just eating meats and meats,” Vida Guerra says. “The health benefits that you get as far as cholesterol, heart diseases, a bunch of diseases, actually—if you eliminate meat and dairy from your diet. I challenge anyone to try it out for 30 days and then evaluate.” [Reference]
