Pantone to release Fashion Color Report Spring 2011
Pantone LLC, an X-Rite company, and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, unveils the PANTONE Fashion Color Report Spring summer 2011. The report features the top 10 colors for women’s fashion for spring 2011, along with designer sketches, quotes and headshots, and is available for free download. The release of the PANTONE Fashion Color Report coincides with New York Fashion Week, which begins Thursday.The top colors for women’s fashion for spring 2011 are:

Headline music acts Sola Rosa and pop darling Ruby Frost will ramp up the entertainment at New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND, adding to a schedule that will include more live music, art, DJ’s and food than ever, as well as a selection of New Zealand’s finest fashion.After four full days of Fashion Week shows, New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND opens up to the public on Friday afternoon and evening, then again for a full day on Saturday.

Dubai's Global Fashion Ranking Set To Rise In 2010 - Esmod
Dubai is expected to rise further in the 2010 ‘top fashion cities of the world’ ranking after climbing up 13 positions from 24th in 2007 to 11th currently, according to the French Fashion University Esmod (FFUE) in Dubai, the regional arm of the renowned Esmod International Fashion University Group.
Trends in the local fashion scene point towards a further rise in the rankings, which are compiled by Global Language Monitor and set to be released in July this year.
Dubai is the only city in the Arab World to enter the list of the top 30 global fashion cities and the second only to Hong Kong in Asia, according to the report. Esmod Dubai pointed that Arabian styles are already influencing European street fashion while celebrity designers such as Christian Lacroix have been incorporating Arab-inspired ensembles into their wardrobe. The University will be sending its students, many of them Emiratis, on a trip to Tokyo, Japan from March 23 to 31, 2010 to expose them to the Japanese fashion scene in order to widen their fashion knowledge and broaden the scope and appeal of Arab fashion.
“Tokyo is well-known for its creative fashion and haute couture. Our students can learn a lot from the city’s designers on how to harmonize colors and innovatively match clothing.Like Dubai,Tokyo also enjoys applying traditional designs to contemporary fashion,” said Tamara Hostal, Director and Founder, French Fashion University Esmod Dubai. “Our visit to Japan will reinforce our mission that our students should continue to explore all kinds of fashion styles and techniques in order to enhance their creativity and broaden their range.

Vikram Phadnis brings 'shimmer & shine' at resort fashion show
Rimzim Dadu’s Line was a refreshing look at style during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010. Gold metallic chandelier leaves suspended from chains hung from the ceiling of the venue and the scene was set for a great resort fashion show.
Bollywood’s glamorous designer Vikram Phadnis revealed a new side to his creativity when Philips presented his truly international collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010. The look was simple and sensuous unlike the usual Vikram Phadnis offerings; as the designer moved from shimmer and shine to beautiful elegant creations.
Working on a line of crème and black Vikram’s interpretation of the resort wardrobe was practical and stylish giving the wear the comfort that holiday attire must have.
With a choice of fluid fabrics like georgette, chiffon, jersey, crepe, linen and lace Vikram opened the show with comfortable morning wear comprising crème panelled swing tops, layered blouses, lace dungarees, Bermudas, summer jackets, jumpsuits, jersey Afghan pants, puff sleeved smocks, raglan belted chiffon dress with lace bell sleeves, capris and minis.
Gently introducing just a hint of glitter in the form of striped lame for minis, Vikram brought in black for collar edges and then moved further with black tights, a swirling black print on white chiffon cape, an interesting black mini with white U shaped inset and then added some very controlled gold and bead work for yoke, bodice and corsets.

Hot trends popping up at Fashion Week
Several of fashion's big guns have yet to show their Fall 2010 collections, but a few trends have already emerged at New York Fashion Week.
THE ARTFUL COLLAGE: Several designers have beautifully combined diverse — and often surprising — fabrics (chiffon and leather) in their garments.
COMING MUST-HAVES: Christian Siriano's next Payless shoe collection, inspired by French antique furniture such as Louis XVI chairs, with filigree detailing or lion's-paw feet worked into high heels; Rebecca Taylor's sparkling hosiery in olive and navy; Donna Karan's DKNY color-patched and tied-every-which-way little dresses; white or black slash boots from Hervé Leger by Max Azria.
LADY BOUNTIFUL BUZZ: Naomi Campbell's good deed for Haiti is the talk under the tents. The supermodel formerly known for throwing telephones speed-dialed her designer and model friends — and a former British royal, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York — to help organize a star-studded fundraiser to aid mothers and children in the earthquake-ravaged country. The capacity audience (975 sitting, another 200 standing) paid up to $150 to see a slim-lined Kelly Osbourne, Chris Brown, Helena Christensen and designers Diane von Furstenberg and Donna Karan model clothes to be sold on the net-a-porter Web site. Campbell is a global ambassador for the White Ribbon Alliance, a coalition that helps women and children in Third World countries. She appeared three times on the runway, greeted each time with a standing ovation.
BLACK OUT: While many designers are still pushing a dark palette for fall, a few are headed toward the rainbow. At Peter Som, purple reigned with a wine chenille skirt and a plum cotton-velvet tiered dress, a charmeuse dress and a stunning cotton-candy Mongolian lamb coat. Karan's DKNY line was rich with browns, color grids, sapphire and deco florals. Taylor incorporated teal, slate blue and purple. Lela Rose worked with flaming orange, pink and cobalt. Siriano's show-stopping shade was hot pink on an organza draped bodice and scalloped tulle gown.
TWO FOR TWO: Max Azria is the busiest designer here, with three collections on the schedule. And surprise, surprise, the first two — his youthful BCBG and the bandage-tight Hervé Leger lines — were his best ever. Azria, who caters to the young Hollywood jet set, presented a minimalist collection of color blocking worked into long black T-shirts that served as the foundation for many his asymmetrical dresses, sometimes worn with skinny trousers or leggings. Backstage at the Leger show, he said his dresses are “a second-skin armor for today's tough modern woman.” The skin-tight shells were made of neoprene, metallic knits, velvet prints and more, some enamel-beaded in hot pink and green. Azria's third show is today.

FUEL Presents Vikram Phadnis' F/W and LFW Collection
Sushil and Falguni Jhaveri of FUEL- The Fashion store hosted a wine and cheese evening for their Bangalore friends over a select preview of Vikram Phadnis' Fall winter and LFW'09 collection at the store this evening. Dia Bhandari was the first one to walk in, on her way to some other social do. Laila Baker came in a while later. Models Nikhitha, Nisha and Nischitha were wearing the signature pieces of Vikram Phadnis' LFW'09 collection. Ritu pandey and Rochna walked in with a friend. Neetu Gupta also came in looking dapper in black. Art Photographer Farah ahmed came in with her friend Emily who was happily clicking away some pictures. Designer Julie Kagti came and checked out the fabulous collection at FUEL. Sarita and Nirmal Mandoth, Rishad and Anna Minocher were the last ones to come and wish Sushil and Falguni.
Bollywood designer Vikram Phadnis created royal magic on the Lakme Fashion Week ramp recently and now he's happily extending that festive look at the multi designer store FUEL at The Hatworks Boulevard, Cunningham Road, Bangalore.
The favourite designer of the stars says he is very excited to dress real people, people who actually make him feel like a star when they wear his clothes.

Austrian ‘...rotations' hits pret-a-porter runways-shows
EDITH A´GAY presented by the pret-a-porter Paris 2009, in the Espace Saint Martin, near of the Beaubourg, her actually collection spring summer 2010, called '...rotations’.The famous Austrian artist Alfons Schilling and his spin paintings are inspiration for the EDITH A’GAY collection spring summer 2010. The paintings transform a schematic, 3D motion (rotation) on 2D canvas. In her collection, EDITH A’GAY uses the aesthetics of the spin paintings as prints, the graphic elements as cutting lines, in order to bring back and anew define the ‘lost’ dimension through body movement.
The superior quality of fabrics like silk and organza in unobtrusive colours enhances the visual appearance.
The idea of the rotation was transformed into an ever moving show. The models circulated around the audience, thus created an atmosphere of constant movement, to finally walk down the middle candle-lit catwalk towards the photographers.
The basic colors are with, black and red; appear like signals in a confused world, simply but strong. The minimal touches are only some prints and ribbons. Still are the outfits light, subtle but graceful.
